Diploma Course (D.Pharm)

Diploma in Pharmacy

Diploma in Pharmacy is a professional level Course in the medical field of Pharmacy. The main objective of the course is to provide an insight in dispensing, preparation and appropriate use of medication meant for therapeutic purposes. Candidates who have passed the Higher Secondary Examination with Physics, Chemistry and Biology/ Mathematics as optional subjects or equivalent thereto are eligible for the D.Pharm course. The course will extend over a period of 2 academic years with each academic year spread over a period of not less than 180 working days. Its syllabus is structured in such a way that it involves both practical and theory subjects.There will be an examination at the end of part I (1st year) and part II ( 2nd year). with written, viva and practical tests. On successful completion of the course the candidate will have to undergo 500 hours of practical training for 3 months in a Government hospital or recognised institution approved for the purpose by Pharmacy Council of India. Diploma in Pharmacy course provides the minimum qualification to become a Registered Pharmacist in India. This course prepares candidates to benefit in narcotics control, computer processing, pre-packing pharmaceuticals, drug distribution, billing, clerical and other duties as necessary. The Scope of employment for D.Pharm candidates are mainly at Health Centers, Hospitals, Chemist Shops, Drug Control Administration, Pharmaceutical Firms, Technical Supervisor and as Pharmacist.
